UKAS Accreditation Expands Testing Services

As part of the company’s commitment to managed growth and recognising that clients’ needs called for an expansion of its own soil testing capabilities, CET has implemented additional accredited testing for: moisture content; liquid limit; plastic limit; plasticity index; state of desiccation in clay soils; and one dimensional swell/strain.

To implement and achieve the accreditation standards, CET had to review and update its Quality Manual and Quality Procedures, developed as part of the certified ISO 9001 Quality Management System. This review was necessary in meeting the more rigorous assessment requirements of the ISO 17025 (General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories). Updates to processes and procedures, worksheets and report formats, included new processes for one dimensional swell/strain testing.

David McCabe, CET’s Business Assurance Manager explained: “With UKAS accreditation for this suite of testing, clients utilising the lab at Billericay can be assured that the processes undertaken are robust, conducted in accordance with recognised and accredited procedures and are continuously monitored internally and externally. This ensures quality testing and accurate results, as well as guaranteeing essential confidentiality of information.”

“Following the UKAS accreditation, there still remains the possibility of expanding the current laboratory size to include more consolidation units to cope with the expected demand for these new testing services. Clients can be assured that CET, in an era of rapid change, is able to demonstrate its commitment to upholding the very highest standards with the implementation of the UKAS accreditations.”
