South Devon Highway Opens to the Public

This week saw the opening of the long awaited South Devon Highway. Fifty years in the planning and three years in the making, the 5.5km bypass around the village of Kingskerswell opened to the public around 4.30am on 15th December.

Since construction began back in September 2012. Throughout the project CET infrastructure has been providing essential on-site materials testing services to principal contractors Galliford Try / SIAC JV.

CET managed every element of the site laboratory from conception, supply of equipment, system implementation to delivery of test data. Our site labs delivered a combination of soils, aggregate, and cementitious laboratory services, plus other site-related services; including density surveys and LWD stiffness testing.

“We were able to claim UKAS accreditation towards the start of the contracts using our flexible scope accreditation. The positive feedback received confirms our robust quality management system can be implemented and operated from site locations anywhere in the country” – Gary Corrigan, Commercial Director

Since achieving flexible scope accreditation, CET has provided UKAS accredited mobile laboratories to a number of high profile UK infrastructure projects, including Crossrail and DIRFT2.

Offering everything from basic soil classification to running surface testing, our on-site UKAS laboratories are staffed by fully-qualified engineers & technicians and ensure a responsive, high quality service tailored to specific project requirements with technical reporting and on-site support and materials advice.
